The God who created the heavens and the earth also carefully created you. Before anyone knew your name, He watched over you as you were being formed in your mother’s womb. The Bible reminds us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” You were not an accident or a copy of someone else. God designed you with unique gifts, thoughts, abilities, and purpose — then sang your very own song over you imprinting you with your unique DNA frequencies.
Yet many people spend their lives comparing themselves to others. We see someone else’s methods, personality, or strengths and think we must become exactly like them to succeed. While there are principles that apply to everyone — managing time wisely, handling finances responsibly, building healthy relationships, parenting well, and growing in our relationship with God — the way those principles are lived out may look different for each person.
Some people process things visually through pictures, colors, and patterns. Others connect through sound, conversations, voice notes, or reminders from Siri. Some remember best by writing things down with different papers, inks, or pencils and physically engaging with the process. None of these approaches are wrong; they simply reflect the individuality God placed inside each of us.
Learn from others, but do not lose yourself trying to become them. God did not call you to be a duplicate. He created you to walk in wisdom through your own unique design. Take the principles, adjust them to your strengths and weaknesses.
If you need to use a calendar for your daily scheduling, find the best one that works for you. If you are a visual person, you might want a daytimer with bright colors and fun icons. If those things distract you, find one that is more business or task oriented. Neither is right or wrong in principle, but one might be totally wrong for you.
Read five chapters a day in your Bible, or read a self-help book every month. It sounds wonderful, but you can go through the page and not remember a word. If you are an auditory processor, use audible books – Yes, even an audible Bible. There are no set rules on how to get the Word in your heart, just get it there in the best manner for you.
Give yourself permission to be the person He uniquely created you to be. Accept who you are and how you process things. God made you that way for a purpose. Embrace it and allow God to use you in the way He hardwired you to be. |
