"To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Have you ever stepped outside and thought, "If it's the first day of summer, why is there snow on the ground?" Or wondered, "How can it be the first day of winter when it's 95 degrees outside?" The calendar declares one season, yet everything around you appears to say something different.

Our walk with God can feel much the same way.

There are seasons when the Lord speaks a promise to our hearts, and we immediately begin to picture what that promise will look like. We build expectations based on our own understanding, only to discover that God fulfills His Word in ways we never imagined.

For some time, I sensed the Lord saying my next season would be about family. In my mind, that meant enjoying more time with my grandchildren and making memories with them that I hadn't been able to before. Instead, this season has been spent helping my parents transition into a new chapter of life. Was God faithful to His promise? Absolutely. This season has been about family—it just wasn't the family picture I had painted.

The same has been true in my calling. I knew I would be teaching more in this new season. I assumed that meant offering classes through Spirit of Life. Instead, He opened doors for me to train others how to build successful businesses. Am I teaching? Yes. Is it what I expected? No. But is it exactly where God has directed me? Without question.

How often do we limit God's faithfulness by expecting Him to work according to our own blueprint? His thoughts are higher than ours, and His ways far exceed our understanding (Isaiah 55:8-9). What appears unexpected to us is never unexpected to Him.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 12:2 that as our minds are renewed, we learn to discern God's "good, acceptable, and perfect will." Many things in life may be good. Some opportunities may even seem to accomplish worthwhile purposes. Yet my heart's desire is not simply to pursue what is good—I want to walk in God's perfect will, even when it doesn't resemble the plans I had made.

Every season carries its own assignment.

Every season reveals another facet of God's faithfulness.

Every season prepares us for what comes next.

This spring's flowers are beautiful, but next spring they won't bloom in exactly the same way. God never wastes a season by merely repeating the last one. He creates new beauty, new growth, and new opportunities with each passing year.

If your life doesn't look like the season you thought God promised, don't assume you've missed Him. Instead, ask Him to open your eyes to what He is doing today. His plans are rarely confined to our expectations, but they are always marked by His wisdom, His love, and His perfect timing.

Rather than mourning the season you imagined, embrace the one God has entrusted to you. There is grace for today, beauty in this moment, and purpose in every step of obedience. One day you'll look back and realize that what didn't look like God's promise was actually His promise unfolding all along.

Trust the Season Giver more than your picture of the season.
