When the government decided to open Indian Territory up to settlers, they opened an era of fighting over territory. The Sooners snuck into the land before the appointed time to plot out their homesteads. The Boomers waited for the cannons to go off and raced against the crowd to stake their claims. But whether Boomers or Sooners, they had to fiercely defend their territory often with their own blood. This was the heritage of the new state of Oklahoma. Through the years, the history of grabbing the land of others repeated itself. Then one day a stranger entered the land and bombed a building, killing our people and our children. 

Another standard rose in the land – the Oklahoma Standard. This standard reflects unity, compassion, service, and kindness in the face of adversity. It is a spirit of standing together, lifting one another up, and building something meaningful for future generations. This standard reflects our true Christian purpose.

So many times, even in our churches, the territorial spirit tries to keep us all apart. But rooted in the wisdom of Scripture, Ecclesiastes 4:9 (The Message Bible) reminds us: "It's better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, But if there's no one to help, tough!"  This powerful truth reveals God's design for community - that we were never meant to walk this journey of life or purpose by ourselves.

True success is not built in isolation, but in unity, service, and mutual encouragement. At Spirit of Life, we live by the motto: “Discovering Destinies Together.” It is more than a phrase – it is a mission. We seek to uplift, empower, and walk alongside others as they step into their purpose. 

God has called each of us into a special destiny, but without others we will never be able to achieve our full potential. Let us be intentional in encouraging one another, honoring each other's journeys, and embracing the strength found in unity. When one rises, we all rise. When one struggles, we extend a hand.
