We all have moments when we struggle to see our own value. Whether it’s because of past mistakes, life’s hardships, or self-doubt, it can be difficult to recognize the worth that lies within us. But just as a master potter sees beauty in a broken vessel, so does the Creator see beauty in us — imperfections and all. Today, I want to remind you of the immeasurable value you possess and the role you play in pouring value into others.
Have you ever thought about how much time, effort, and love a potter puts into crafting a piece of pottery? A Japanese potter, for example, carefully designs each piece, considering every detail from shape to color. After firing it, he examines his work. If it breaks, he doesn’t discard it. Instead, he repairs it using his most precious resource — gold. This technique, known as kintsugi, highlights the beauty in imperfection. The cracks and scars are not flaws; they’re part of the artwork, making it even more unique and valuable.
Just like that potter’s work, you are a masterpiece. The Bible tells us that God, the ultimate Creator, imagined us before we were born. He planned our lives with intention and care. Long before we took our first breath, He wrote a story for us — a story filled with purpose, goodness, and infinite value.
In Psalm 139:13-14, it says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” This shows that we were never accidents. Every detail of our existence was lovingly crafted by the One who calls the stars by name. He declared us into being with joy and purpose.
As we go through life, we inevitably experience pain, heartache, and even brokenness. But just like the Japanese potter who uses gold to repair his work, God uses His most precious gift — His Son — to restore and heal us. Our brokenness, scars, and imperfections are transformed into something more beautiful, stronger, and more resilient.
Through the process of redemption, God doesn’t just put us on a shelf to be admired. He uses us — our healed, restored selves — as vessels to pour value and love into others. Just as gold veins run through a broken pot, our scars can be signs of strength and resilience, showing others the power of healing and transformation.
You were made with incredible worth. No matter what your story is or where you’ve been, you are valuable. And, not just for your own sake. Your value isn’t meant to be kept for yourself. You were made to pour that value into others, to shine the light of love, compassion, and encouragement wherever you go.
When we embrace our worth and allow God to repair and refine us, we not only become more beautiful in His eyes, but we also become beacons of hope for others. The more we shine with His love, the more we help others see the value in themselves.
Remember, you are not defined by your brokenness. You are defined by the love of the Creator, who sees you as a masterpiece. Your flaws and scars only add to your value, like the gold veins in a piece of kintsugi. Embrace your worth, and allow God to use you as a vessel to pour value into others. No matter your beginning, you are a person of great value, made to impact the world with your unique story.
